LITTLE ROCK, Ark., August 06, 2009 - Windstream Corporation (NYSE: WIN) today reported second-quarter earnings results highlighted by continued solid cash generation.

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. – Windstream Corporation (NYSE: WIN) today reported first-quarter earnings results driven by increased high-speed Internet sales and disciplined management of overall cash expenses.

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. – Windstream Corporation (NYSE: WIN) achieved solid results and generated $214 million in free cash flow in the second quarter. For the first half of the year, the company produced $374 million in free cash flow through efficient management of operating and capital expenses.

The company also repurchased approximately 8.4 million shares for $100 million during the quarter as part of a $400 million share repurchase plan authorized by the board of directors in February.
