FCC takes critical step to advance business data services reform
By Eric N. Einhorn, Windstream Senior Vice President of Government Affairs
Windstream shares the FCC’s concern that some business data service markets are broken and these problems are rooted in the extreme concentration of market share in the hands of a few suppliers. Exercise of this market power results in inflated prices and will stamp out competition for retail end users – businesses, government agencies and non-profits. Today’s action is a key step toward a better marketplace, one that drives more network investment and service innovation.
Windstream commends Chairman Wheeler’s leadership in advancing this critical policy initiative; thanks Commissioner Clyburn for her important efforts to ensure that the Commission asks all the right questions and has flexibility to consider a variety of reform options; and supports Commissioner Rosenworcel’s core principles for reforms that should be adopted in this proceeding. We look forward to working with the Commission to make reforms a reality, to the benefit of all business data customers.
