Windstream Green Truck Tour rolling into Concord, N.C. area with landline safety, security message

MATTHEWS, N.C. – Windstream (NYSE: WIN) will spread goodwill to local communities in Cabarrus, Iredell, Rowan, Stanly and Union counties and will highlight the safety and security of landline phones when its Green Truck Tour comes to town this week.

During the entire month of November, Windstream will make donations totaling more than $17,000 to area public safety and community groups to purchase items such as safety gear, equipment and items that reinforce the “Your Landline is Your Lifeline” safety message. As part of the 2007 Green Truck Tour, Windstream has already donated more than $100,000 to community organizations in 13 states.

“The Green Truck Tour has been incredibly successful in introducing our company to consumers and building brand awareness,” said Joe Marano, Windstream vice president and general manager for the Carolinas. “We also wanted to reach out to our new customers in the former CT Communications service area, so we have dedicated an entire month to visiting that market. Customers should keep an eye out when the Green Truck Tour rolls into their town – they’ll be pleasantly surprised.”

To give back to the communities Windstream serves, the company will be collecting non-perishable food items or paper goods at Windstream retail stores Nov. 2-22. These donations will be given to local food pantries.

During the month, the Windstream Green Truck will make appearances at Windstream retail stores, gas stations, local restaurants and shopping centers to promote the company’s phone, broadband and digital TV products and services. At these stops, the company will give away nearly $8,000 in gift cards to customers.
