Windstream launches 24 Mbps Internet service in Lexington

LEXINGTON, Ky. – Windstream (NYSE: WIN) is offering Lexington customers the fastest Internet connection speeds available in Fayette County – 24 Mbps high-speed Internet service for under $50.

"This lightning fast speed will enhance our customers' ability to download massive amounts of information, including streaming video, gaming and file sharing, with the highest quality connection in the city," said Brian Harman, vice president of operations for Windstream in Kentucky. “These days, customers are looking for real value. With pricing for 24 Mbps service starting at $44.99 per month, that’s what they get with our broadband service.”

Customers can bundle 24 Mbps Internet service with local phone service, popular calling features and unlimited long-distance service for $64.99 a month.

Internet speeds are distance sensitive and availability varies by address. For details, customers can call 1-866-445-6929.

Windstream also is testing 50 Mbps connection speeds with a small number of Lexington customers.

The company doubled the Internet speeds across most of its 16-state network last year, offering 12 Mbps service in certain areas and expanding the availability of 3 Mbps and 6 Mbps service.

For added customer mobility and convenience, Windstream also offers a wireless home networking option that allows multiple computers, printers and devices in a home to share Internet access for no additional monthly charge and a one-time professional installation fee.

New high-speed Internet customers receive Windstream Security Suite free for the first three months. Powered by McAfee, Security Suite blocks viruses and spyware, provides protection from hackers and helps ensure optimum computer performance.

Windstream TechHelp also offers customers 24/7 professional technical support for set-up and repair of personal computers and other digital devices, including diagnosing error messages, setting up a wireless network, installing new software or connecting to an MP3 player.
